The closest beach escape from Ho Chi Minh City. Just two hours southeast of Saigon, Vung Tau is a peninsula city on the South China Sea that has been a resort destination since the French colonial era. Spend the morning swimming and relaxing on Thuy Van Beach, one of the nicest beaches in southern Vietnam with 10 km of fine sand and gentle waves. The afternoon covers the cultural highlights of the peninsula — the iconic Giant Jesus Statue, the sacred Whale Temple, the elegant White Palace (Villa Blanche) and the scenic Cap Nghinh Phong headland.

Arrive at Thuy Van Beach, one of the finest beaches in southern Vietnam with nearly 10 km of fine sand and gentle rolling waves. Swim, sunbathe and relax at leisure before the afternoon sightseeing.

Giant Jesus Statue (Tuong Chua Kito)

Climb to the base of the famous 32-meter Jesus statue perched on Nho Mountain. The statue is one of the largest in Asia and offers sweeping panoramic views over Vung Tau and the South China Sea.

Visit the Dinh Than Thang Tam, a sacred temple dedicated to the whale — revered by local fishermen as a protector at sea. One of the most important cultural sites in Vung Tau, rich in offerings and local rituals.
